What are the different types of electric welding?

According to different joining methods, welding can be roughly divided into three categories: fusion welding, pressure welding, and brazing.

1. Fusion welding: In welding, the most common method is "fusion welding". During fusion welding, the base metal and welding material or one of them needs to be melted to achieve welding. A typical fusion welding is "arc welding". Welding methods such as arc welding and laser welding are often used for automatic welding by robots. In complex production lines such as automobile assembly lines, robot welding and manual welding are used depending on the characteristics and conditions of the process.

2. Pressure welding uses mechanical friction, pressure, current, etc. to melt and join the base materials. It is divided into "friction crimping method", "gas crimping method" and "resistance spot welding". The "friction and crimping method" utilizes the plasticity of the material, that is, after applying a certain force to the material and deforming it, the deformation will be maintained even if no force is applied; the "gas crimping method" uses the base material to deform. They are pressed together and then heated with gas to achieve joining; "resistance point welding" is to overlap two base materials to be joined and energize them, using resistance heating as a heat source to join.

3. Brazing is the use of welding materials (brazing materials) whose melting temperature (melting point) is lower than that of the base metal. Flux is added to the brazing material in order to achieve a good bonding state without melting the base metal.

Extension: Not only should the melting temperature of the brazing material be lower than that of the base material, but it must also have excellent affinity. The atoms of the melted brazing material must be able to combine with the atoms of the base material. What are the welding methods? Comparison of welding technology classification. Welding technology is mainly used on metal base materials. Commonly used ones include arc welding, argon arc welding, CO2 shielded welding, oxygen-acetylene welding, and laser welding.
